Chinchilla health Do not use this as a substitute for a vet because if your chin is seriously ill take them to a vet but just use this for things you might be able to help with. All the information here was taken from information that i know and things from other sites (not word for word)If i have abused any copyright laws this was not intended but i dont think i have :p

Simple illnesses Simple ilnesses you usually dont need to go to the vet for but if you are new to chinchilla's then maybe you should go to the vet just incase! A common thing in chinchilla's is OVERHEATING this could be FATAL! one thing maybe you should put a non wet icepack on them do not use cold water or anything damp or wet! You can tell if they have overheated by bloodshot ears! The temperature should not exede 80 degreese celcius. When cooling you may use a fan but do not direct it at the chin as they do not like wind at all and it could cause stress. Also stress is common they may not eat and loose alot of weight or fur. This may happen after moving them around alot or changing their food after a rest the problem should dissapear!
